Boost Me

You may have experienced the heatbed hitting at the top during maintenance while raising it through the menu and going too far up.

It’s generally no big deal, the Z-motor senses current spike and stops after a while. The concern is that on H2D and H2C, what the bed is hitting is the bottom of the tool head (it might be the same on H2S but I don’t own one to check, please feel free to print, test and report back).

When the toolhead is parked, the part fan vent on each side protrudes a bit above the rear of the bed and that what is contacted first and I don’t think the toolhead is happy with it… Also the force is only on one point of the bed which is not desirable…

These spacers will prevent that. They will clip on the top of the 3 linear rods and protect the toolhead from the bed hitting it. If the bed is raised too high, the bed will now contact the spacer before it contacts the toolhead. The contact will also occur at the 3 linear rod points simultaneously.

The spacer clips install on the linear rod, install one half on the back of the rod, maintain it in place, align the other half and push them against each other so they clip together and push them up against the top of the frame. They will firmly grip on the rods and will stay in place.

I designed 3 different spacers: 1st plate is multi-material ASA+TPU (ASA on each side with TPU in the middle). If you prefer (and easier with H2S as it saves one filament change), on plate 2 is ASA with TPU only on top. 3rd plate is full ASA which works also, TPU being there to provide some (slight) damping and to make the spacer hold tight on the rod so full ASA no TPU although it will work may not be your first choice ;). You will need to print 3 copies of the one you choose.

If you print the full ASA version make sure it clips well and stay on top of the rod, if it’s too loose just adjust a bit the scale (X and Y) to 99% or less if required as different filament may shrink slightly differently.

I selected ASA in the profile but you can use ABS or even PETG (or else as long as the material can withstand 70C)

The spacers are 15mm high, they will not compromise printing, they will leave about 3mm of clearance during homing/first layer and still give clearance if your plate is not installed (for tramming for instance)
