700mm × 500mm Wall Art
Victoria Tempest – Horizon is a 3×3 modular ocean relief wall art piece, inspired by the restless surface of Victoria Harbour during a typhoon.
As a creator who has long focused on practical objects, I wanted to explore another possibility of 3D printing: not only solving everyday problems, but also shaping the atmosphere of a living space. The Home Gallery Design Contest gave me the perfect reason to turn this thought into a real piece — to imagine what could be created with just a printer and a spool of filament, beyond a tool, a toy, or a desk decoration.
The flowing relief texture captures fragments of wind-driven waves, turning the harbor’s movement into a sculptural ocean surface. When printed with silk or glossy filament, the raised ripples catch light from different angles, creating a subtle, shifting reflection that feels almost like water moving across the wall.
Designed in a landscape layout, Horizon works well in wider spaces such as above a desk, sofa, shelf, or entryway. It brings a calm yet powerful ocean atmosphere into the room — a quiet fragment of Victoria Harbour, frozen before the storm settles.
A vertical companion piece, Victoria Tempest – Cascade, will follow — designed for narrower spaces, with a stronger vertical sense of wave movement.
📌 PDF Guide: A PDF guide with printing and mounting notes is included in the additional files.
A lot of time and filament went into testing and refining this project.
