This is a fun dual threaded wind spinner. Read below for more ideas, information, and assembly instructions! :D
Warning: As you may guess, this is not built for high winds! Sure this is made for wind, but super strong wind could damage it! I designed a second version called the SpinStrong which is one piece and stronger! I also recommend taking it down if you have a high weather watch to ensure that it doesn't get damaged. → Mainly what I mean by this is, the super glue (I recommend JB Weld though) can give way because of the wind or rain!!!
The assembly is easy. All steps apply to all print profiles, and not matter if you print in one or more colors. If you do not want to use glue, print the SpinStrong print profile and skip to step 4. No glue nessesary!
After printing (print in two, king of three pieces), slide the post inside the bigger piece down. The post will catch on a lip on the big piece, and will not fall out.
Super Glue (or JB Weld) the smaller piece to the post that slid down (and partially out) of the bigger piece. There is an indent on the top, indicating the spot.
Hang up the SpinCone (or SpinStrong) with a string, small rope, or other material. (Idea: You could possibly use a fishing swivel to hang it up, which will ensure that both sides can twist without destroying the rope holding it up!)
Hang it up wherever you please, so that it can bring satisfaction and pleasure to your life! ~Happy printing!
There are multiple print profiles. The first one, is the single color one. This is the one pictured pretty much everywhere. There is a second print profile that is 2 colors, and print by object!
Someone gave me the idea that you could use a fishing swivel on the top of the model, so that when the wind hits it, it can spin either way without really interfering with whatever you hang it up with!
This model does require some minimal supports, and glue. Nevertheless, the supports are easy to remove, and there is a built in way to stand it up without it falling while it dries!
It stands up while drying in a simple way. There are grooves on the bottom of the large piece that the very top of the small piece “locks” into. This way, the center of gravity is perfect, and the glue can dry without messing up anything!
I hope you enjoy printing and watching this model!
~Happy printing!
