Description
Recently, Drew Fisher produced a very nicely designed 3D print model for a dust port that fits his particular brand of miter saw (Bosh I think it was). He also has an entertaining video to show how he designed his print. The method Drew used to attach the dust port to his saw was very clever. I used the same attachment idea to produce a dust port for the Dewalt DW718 miter saw. The dust port fits directly behind the saw fence, and the sliding adjustable sections of the fence lock the port firmly in place. My design has 100% infill where the blade will meet the port, so you can cut a zero clearance kerf cut to maximize the efficiency. The hose connection coming out the side of the port is designed to fit a standard 1 5/8" inside diameter dust extractor/vacuum hose. The port works great….leaving almost no saw dust that is not captured by the vacuum. However, the design only works for 90 degree cuts…..which is 95% of the cuts I make. The port can quickly be removed if angle cuts are required.
