Description
This adapter was designed for my 2018 Ford Ranger to mount the monitor of an Auto-Vox rear view camera or any other thing featuring a 2cm diameter ball joint in a clean, compact, and stable way.
It should also fit 2016–2022 Ford Ranger models, but I have only tested it on my 2018 model.
For the vehicle-side clamp, I use the “2016+ Ford Ranger Ball Joint Phone Mount Mark 2” model by Alexander Brown on Printables. This model adds a custom adapter between that clamp and the ball joint of the Auto-Vox monitor mount.
The Ford Ranger clamp from the Printables model is included in the photos and in the 3D model for reference and demonstration purposes.
This adapter allows a compact and sturdy installation of the rear view camera monitor in the Ford Ranger.
The monitor remains adjustable through the original ball joint, while the vehicle-specific clamp provides a clean mounting solution without drilling or permanent modifications to the vehicle.
PETG-CF as well as ABS wasn‘t as heat resistant as I thought. During hot summerdays (>30°C outside temperature) and direct sunlight, the part became soft, bent and eventually came off. I reprinted it with PATH-CF (ABS as support material) and now it is holding up.
Recommended print settings:
The uploaded print profile is prepared for a Bambu Lab X2D and uses a second material as the support interface material. This makes support removal much cleaner and easier after printing. For PATH-CF, ABS or ASA is recommended.
Before driving, make sure the mount is securely installed and that the monitor does not obstruct your view, controls, airbags, or any safety-related components. Use at your own risk.
