DESCRIPTION
These collars are designed to neatly hide the gap between your wall and heating pipes. The two halves snap together firmly, so they almost look like a single piece, from some distance. Small elastic features on the inside help keep everything securely in place for a snug fit. It has a simple clean appearance on the outside and is a bit over-engineered on the inside.😅
MODEL VARIATIONS
The 3MF file includes different collar versions to choose from. They vary in outer diameter and gap size. The larger versions can cover more uneven wall areas, while the smaller ones don’t require supports.
The two collars at the front of the build plate have tighter tolerances, which helps minimize visible gaps after snapping them together. However, these versions require good filament and a well-tuned printer. I also recommend opening and closing the collar a few times before installing it on a pipe. This slightly loosens the fit and makes removal easier.
If you have trouble with the tight versions, you may prefer the two with more loose gaps (located at the back of the build plate). In the slicers object list you'll also recognize them by a "LOOSE" in their names.
SLICER
This download includes four similar 3MF files. They contain identical 3D geometry, but each file has been optimized with a different slicer (Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer and Cura). The main reason is to ensure compatibility of the support blockers.
OTHER SIZES
All collar models on the build plate are designed for a 22 mm pipe diameter. For other sizes, you could scale the models, but I recommend checking out my other uploads optimized for common pipes with 15 mm diameter and 18 mm diameter (coming soon). You might also like my cover for pipe clamps.
I’d appreciate any feedback on which version worked best for you or if you ran into any issues.
