This customizable filament swatch is designed to give you clean, reliable, and fully integrated labeling directly inside the 3D print - without relying on Bambu Studio’s text tool. It includes three independent text fields (Manufacturer, Type, Color/Code) and a built‑in transparency test using seven stepped thickness levels from 0.2 mm to 1.4 mm. The result is a compact, professional‑looking swatch that fits perfectly into standard display cases and makes filament cataloging effortless.

✨ Key Features

  • Fully parametric text (3 fields) Add Manufacturer, Filament Type (e.g., PLA Matte), and Color/Article Code (e.g., 11104 GRY) directly through MakerWorld’s Parametric Model Maker.
  • Text is printed directly into the swatch No need to use Bambu Studio’s text tool, which in my case sometimes created artifacts or broken geometry. The text is clean, crisp, and part of the model itself.
  • Seven transparency test steps Layer thicknesses from 0.2 mm to 1.4 mm in 0.2 mm increments allow you to evaluate light transmission and opacity for any filament.
  • Fits standard filament swatch display cases Designed to match the common dimensions used across most filament libraries.

🛠️ Using the Parametric Model Maker (Important Notes)

To ensure the best results when customizing your swatch:

  • Do not set the font size below 2.6 Smaller text may become unreadable or fail to print cleanly.
  • Keep text length reasonable Extremely long strings may extend beyond the label area.
  • Use a print‑friendly font “Calibri:style=Bold” is pre‑selected because it prints sharply and avoids thin strokes (and was the only one which could print dots “.” somewhat properly -→ use bigger text size when printing dots) 
  • Recommendation: Only modify the text fields All other parameters are pre‑configured for correct geometry and should remain unchanged unless you know what you're doing.

🖨️ Recommended Print Workflow & Settings

To ensure the best possible print quality, please follow this workflow:

1. First download and open the included .3mf file. This file already contains all optimized print settings for clean text, sharp edges, and accurate transparency steps.

2. Then download your customized file from the Parametric Model Maker After generating your personalized swatch, simply insert the customized model into the already‑opened 3MF project. This guarantees that all correct print settings are applied automatically.

DO NOT DELETE THE MODELS OF THE INCLUDED .3mf FILE BEFORE INCLUDING YOUR CUSTOMIZED MODEL WHICH MIGHT DELETE THE PRINT SETTINGS

đź”§ Recommended Print Settings

If you prefer to adjust the settings manually, use the following:

  • Layer Height: 0.10 mm (High Quality improves the print quality immensely)
  • Wall Generator: Arachne
  • Top Surface Pattern: Aligned Rectlinear
  • Sparse Infill: 100%
  • Sparse Infill Pattern: Rectlinear

These settings provide in my opinion the best balance between print speed, text clarity, and consistent transparency across all seven thickness levels.

Please note that the AI preview may appear cleaner or more refined than what is achievable with a standard 0.4 mm nozzle, but the geometry and design accurately represent the actual model.
