A threaded box with a rounded top.
It has a couple of special features:
- Three thread starts, meaning:
- It locks in just a third of a turn
- It can start closing in three different places, so it's super easy to use
- It has a rounded top
- Applies a daring overhang to the underside of the lid to achieve the beveled edge
Print notes
- Yes, the lid print orientation works reliably without a brim, but to be sure, clean your print bed.
- Tested on textured PEI and Coolplate Supertack (original)
- The overhang quality of the lid will be dependent on your filament. If you're unsure, use supports.
Also
- Yes, the lid would print better lying down with a chamfer instead of a brim.
- Yes, this design and printing method is definitely form over function (or at least form over strength and printing reliability)
- Yes, this way of printing does weaken the layer adhesion of the lid slightly, but not in a way that's meaningful for most applications.
