Description
This project is a custom frame designed to house a high-end configuration while keeping the electronics visible. The goal was to create a support with a strong visual identity, halfway between an open test bench and a technical display piece, with careful component integration and discreet cable management.
The design requirements include an SFX power supply, such as the Corsair SF1000, a mini-ITX motherboard with an air cooler, and an Asus ROG Strix 4090 OC Edition. The frame hides the cables only on one corner of the assembly, in order to keep the components clearly visible while preserving a clean finish.
Assembly requires 11 M4 inserts, 8 M3 inserts, 4 M3 * 5mm or 6mm and 11 M4 x 35 mm screws. These parts ensure the rigidity of the frame and the mechanical stability of the build, while allowing for a solid and repeatable assembly process.
The vertical orientation of the graphics card, with the chip positioned toward the bottom, also helps improve thermal behavior. This setup promotes the return of the cooling fluid to the area close to the chip inside the heat pipes, which helps keep the card better cooled than in its stock orientation.
The graphics card also requires DP and HDMI video cables with a 90-degree connector, in order to reduce clutter and make integration into the frame easier. The project also needs an extremely flexible PCIe riser cable, which is essential to connect the graphics card while respecting the compact layout and the chosen orientation. PCIe risers are a common solution for compact or vertically mounted GPU builds.
Overall, the result is a project that is compact, striking, and functional, showcasing the components while meeting precise mechanical and thermal constraints.
