Description

- The times are over where only Iron, Cobalt, Nickel and alike were magnetic. -

Did you ever wonder what Uranium taste  like? Did you ever think that there should be more potassium on your shopping list? Do you feel a lack of nerdy gadgets in your lab or office?
This model isn't here to answer that but tell you what elements you definitely shouldn't lick.
I have created this model inspired by other models like the one by @Leander_C and shirts as a gift for a friend in the chemistry field. Since I prefer printing things with a use rather that plain decorations I added a little hole for 4x2 magnets in each Element.

Functionality:

This is the Mini model of my fridge magnet pse board. It is reduced in dimensions and has no element numbers due to the smaller size.

This board provides you with exactly 118 magnets (or 122 magnets in the meme version) for fridges  and whiteboards, each Element individually. So whenever some nutrients are not on your menu, just add them!

There is also a bigger version with element numbers.

There are two models available, each in two print profiles for with/without AMS:

  • An accurate representation of the PSE
  • A version with a few added fun elements:
    • Ah - The Element of surprise
    • Oh - The Element of disapointment
    • Me - My element. Whatever floats your boat
    • 🔑 - The Key element. We all know it's elementary
    • Xx - A fully Customizable Elementblock to your choice on a spare plate

Fun side quest for this model: Play with the letters, create words, sentences and things in impossible composition.

Please feel free to upload the best sentences you can create out of the elements!
There are also 12 slots for magnets in the back of the base plate. In total you will need 130 (134 in the meme version) magnets, 118 of which you can use as fridge and whiteboard magnets individually.

Printing:

The model uses six colors in total: Black, Blue, Red, Green, Yellow and White. There are two print profiles for each version, one with an AMS and one for people without.
For the profile with no AMS: First load the base colors, then load the color for the writing (e.g. white) at the pause of the print profile.

I printed the model with a 0.4 mm nozzle but a 0.2 mm nozzle would create much better details.

If you print the custom element you need to adjust the writing on the block.

Assembly:

You should use a flat piece or magnet dispensers to push the magnets in. Your Thumbs will thank you.

Start with the magnets on the base plate. Push them in firmly from the back. Make sure they all have the same orientation.

For the elements you should have the magnets facing the opposite orientation to avoid them getting pulled to the wrong spots in the baseplate. I found it easiest to stick a few on a magnetic board and start pushing the elements onto the magnets. Again: Use some tool for less pain in the tips of your thumbs.

You will need a bit of glue to keep the Color Indicators in place on the base.

Please note that you shouldn'shouldn't put the elements in place and then try to move the model. If you do chaos ensues and you might form some instable or dangerous molecules on your floor. Jokes aside: the magnets will attract each other when you move the whole model.

Disclaimer: I fully created this model which is meant as a joke. It does not mean you can safely lick neither the print nor any elements, not even the green ones.

the model is not suitable for curved surfaces!

Have fun!
