🏷️ Fully Parametric Tag & Multi-Printing Jig Generator
Welcome to the ultimate utility for creating custom tags, keychains, and labels – and automatically generating the matching printing jig (holding fixture) for mass production, UV printing or laser engraving!
This model is 100% parametric and fully optimized for the MakerWorld OpenSCAD Customizer. No programming skills are required; simply use the sliders and menus on the left side to design your tag and create a perfectly fitting jig for your specific UV printer or laser engraver!
This is the significantly expanded version of my original generator (https://makerworld.com/de/models/2884259-customizable-sign-tag-generator#profileId-3221666). It automatically generates a suitable jig for the modeled sign or tag.
At the very bottom of the description, I’ve also included instructions on how to integrate an NFC tag, as this is a great option for a project like this.
- 4 Base Shapes: Choose between Round (Rund), Oval, Rectangular (Rechteckig), and Hexagon (Sechseck).
- 3 Attachment Options: None (Keine), Internal_Hole (Integrierte Lochung), or External_Eyelet (Außenliegende Öse).
- Premium Edges: Add a Chamfer_45 (Fase) or smooth Rounded (Abgerundete) edges for a professional look and feel.
- Smart Jig Matrix Calculation: Switch the mode, enter your 3D printer's bed size (jig_width & jig_length), and the script automatically calculates the maximum number of tags that fit on your bed, perfectly centered with a safety margin!
🛠️ How to Use (Kurzanleitung)
- Design your Tag:
- Set output_mode to Tag.
- Adjust the shape, dimensions (width, length, thickness), and your preferred attachment style.
- Customize the top edge style to give it a premium look.
- Export the STL or 3mf file of the tag.
- Generate your Custom Jig (Druckschablone):
- Change output_mode to Jig.
- Enter the print bed dimensions of the printer you want to use (jig_width and jig_length).
- Set your preferred jig_margin (safety zone around the edge) and jig_spacing (space between tags).
- Important: Adjust jig_tolerance (default: 0.25mm) so your printed tags will fit snugly but easily into the slots.
- Export the STL or 3mf file for the jig.
🎛️ Parameter Guide (Erklärung der Einstellungen)
📦 Output Mode
- Tag: Renders a single customizable tag/label.
- Jig: Renders the multi-pocket base plate for printing or holding multiple tags at once.
📐 Base Shape & Dimensions
- shape: Base geometry of your tag.
- width / length / thickness: Dimensions in mm.
- corner_radius: Smooths the corners of the rectangular shape.
🔗 Attachment (Aufhängung/Lochung)
- attachment: Choose between an internal hole, an external eyelet, or no hole at all.
- placement: Automatic positioning (Top, Bottom, Left, Right) or Manual adjustment via coordinates.
- eyelet_style: Fused blends the eyelet smoothly into the body (organic look), while Classic keeps it distinct.

🖨️ Print Settings (Druckempfehlungen)
For the Tags:
- Top Surface: Enable "Ironing" (Glätten) in your slicer for a super smooth, injection-molded look.
For the Jig (Schablone):
- Material: Standard PLA or PETG.
- Infill: 15% - 20% (Grid or Gyroid).
- Walls: 3-4 wall loops to ensure the pocket edges are sturdy.
- First Layer: Make sure your bed is clean and leveled, as the jig has a large surface area.

📡 The Ultimate Upgrade: Embedding Smart NFC Functionality (NTAG215)
Want to turn your name tag into a real smart gadget? This script is perfectly designed to seamlessly and invisibly enclose an ultra-thin NFC sticker (Type: NTAG215) inside the tag! Since NTAG215 stickers are extremely cheap (often just a few cents each), this is a brilliant way to massively increase the utility of your print.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Guide: Setting Up a Pause in Bambu Studio
To perfectly embed the NFC chip, we print the base first, insert the sticker, and then simply print over it. This seals the chip permanently and makes it waterproof.
- Prepare the Model: In the customizer, it is best to use a tag thickness (thickness) of at least 3.0 mm to 4.0 mm.
- Slice: Import your generated tag into Bambu Studio and slice it with the standard layer height of 0.2 mm.
- Find the Right Layer: * After slicing, switch to the Preview tab.
- Use the vertical slider on the right side to scroll through the print layer by layer.
- Scroll down to Layer 4. (At this point, the first 3 layers – exactly 0.6 mm in thickness – are fully printed and form a perfect, stable foundation).
- Add the Pause: * Right-click on the small plus icon (+) or the layer number 4 on the slider.
- Select "Add Pause" from the context menu. The layer will now be highlighted in blue.
- Start Printing: Send the print job to your printer.
🔄 Printing Workflow:
As soon as the printer finishes the 3rd layer, the heatbed automatically drops down a bit and the print pauses.
- Insert the Sticker: Peel off the protective film from your NFC sticker and stick it exactly in the center of the 3 already printed layers. Tip: Press it down firmly so it lies completely flat and doesn't curl up at the edges!
- Resume Printing: Simply click "Resume" on the printer display, in Bambu Studio, or via the Bambu Handy app. The printer will print Layer 4 directly over the sticker, sealing it invisibly.
💡 Awesome Application Examples for Your NFC Tags
Once the chip is embedded, you can easily program it using a free smartphone app (such as NFC Tools for iOS & Android). Here are a few ideas that people love:
- 🎮 Amiibo Clones for Nintendo Switch: The NTAG215 is the exact chip type compatible with the Nintendo Switch! You can give the tag a cool gaming inscription and store the NFC code of your favorite Amiibo inside. A perfect gift for gamers!
- 🐕 Smart Pet Tag: Print a small hexagon or round tag for your dog's or cat's collar. Program the NFC chip with an emergency contact link, your phone number, or your address. If your pet gets lost, anyone who finds them just needs to hold their smartphone near the tag.
- 📶 Guest Wi-Fi "Tap to Connect": Create a beautiful sign for your coffee table that says "Wi-Fi". Program your Wi-Fi credentials onto the chip. Guests just have to tap their phone on the sign, and they are automatically connected to your internet—no tedious password typing required!
- 👔 Digital Business Card (Keychain): Write a link to your Linktree, your website, or your digital business card (vCard) onto the chip. When someone asks for your contact info: just let them tap your keychain with their phone—done!
- 🏠 Smart Home Trigger: Place tags in strategic locations. A quick scan of a tag next to the front door can trigger Apple Shortcuts or Home Assistant to turn off the lights, lower the thermostat, or launch your robot vacuum.
- 🧳 Luggage & Bag Tags: For vacations—if your luggage gets lost, the airline or finder can read your contact details in no time, without your private data being openly visible to everyone on a paper tag.
⚠️ Note: Make sure NOT to use any metallic or carbon-fiber-filled filaments (like PLA-CF) for the layers above the NFC chip, as metal particles or carbon fibers can block the smartphone's radio signal. Standard PLA, PETG, or ABS work absolutely flawlessly!
