Description
I wanted to share this project because it’s honestly just as mesmerizing for adults to watch as it is for kids to play with, me and my daughter have loved it.
It’s my take on the classic spinning stacking toy that you often see in preschools, STEM classrooms, and sensory spaces.
The idea is simple: you slide a colorful geometric shape onto the threaded rod, let go, and watch it spin all the way to the bottom. It creates a really lovely, rhythmic sound and a visual effect that is genuinely hypnotic. Because of that visual and tactile feedback, it makes a wonderful sensory or SEN toy for children who thrive on repetitive, calming motions, while also introducing early STEM concepts like gravity, gears, and motion.
To get that smooth, satisfying spin, the textures need to be as clean as possible. Here is what worked well for me:
