Modular Magnetic Marble Run Starter Kit

Build your own marble track using modular hex-shaped pieces that connect together with magnets. This starter kit includes multiple track sections that can be rearranged into different layouts, making it easy to expand, remix, and experiment with new marble run designs.

The model works as a normal marble run, but it looks best when printed in transparent or translucent filament with optional LED lights placed inside or underneath the modules for a glowing effect.

Features

  • Modular hex-based marble run system
  • Magnetic connections for easy rearranging
  • Optional LED lighting for translucent prints
  • Multiple track pieces included
  • Great as a desk toy, STEM toy, or construction set
  • Can be expanded with future modules
  • Works best with transparent or translucent filament for the LED effect

Magnet Installation

Each connector point has small magnet slots. After printing:

  1. Check the polarity of your magnets before gluing them in.
  2. Insert one magnet into the slot on the first module.
  3. Use that module to test the matching polarity for the next module.
  4. Push the magnet into the slot carefully.
  5. Add a tiny drop of super glue.
  6. Repeat for all connector points.

Important: keep the magnet direction consistent, or some pieces will repel instead of snapping together.

LED Installation

The LED lighting is optional. The model can be used without lights.

For the glowing version:

  1. Print the modules using transparent or translucent filament.
  2. Place small LED lights under or inside the light pockets/open spaces.
  3. Route the wire through the bottom or side gap if needed.
  4. Test the light before fully assembling the track.
  5. Use low-heat LEDs only. Do not use hot bulbs or anything that can soften the plastic.

RGB, blue, white, and green LEDs look best with clear or translucent filament.

Printing Notes

  • PLA or PETG recommended
  • Translucent PLA/PETG recommended for the LED version
  • Print orientation matters for smoother marble movement
  • Use the included print profile for best results
  • Some pieces may need supports depending on orientation
  • Make sure the track surface is clean before use

What’s Included

  • Modular track pieces
  • Connector/base pieces
  • Starter layout parts
  • Magnetic connection design
  • Optional LED-ready sections

This is a starter kit, so you can build the included layout or rearrange the parts into your own custom marble run.
