No-Drill Curtain Rod System – Renter Friendly

Tired of living without proper curtains because you can't drill into walls?

This fully 3D printable curtain rod system gives your rental apartment a clean, finished look — no drilling, no damage, no lost deposit. Mounted with strong double-sided tape, it holds real curtains securely while looking just like a traditional 35mm curtain rod. When you move out, it comes off cleanly.

What's Included
Everything is printable — no hardware store runs needed:

  • Curtain Rod (modular, 240mm sections)
  • Curtain Rod Bracket
  • Internal Rod Connector
  • Track End Cap
  • Curtain Glider

Dimensions

  • Rod outer diameter: 35mm
  • Rod section length: 240mm
  • Slot width: 9mm / Slot depth: 9mm

The rod is fully modular — connect as many sections as you need using the Internal Rod Connector.

Print Settings

  • Material: PLA or PLA+
  • Layer Height: 0.24mm
  • Bracket: supports required
  • Internal Rod Connector: 100% infill
  • Curtain Glider: 100% infill recommended
  • Everything else: standard infill

Assembly

  1. Attach brackets to the wall using strong mounting tape (I used TESA PRO Ultra Strong)
  2. Insert Curtain Gliders into the curtain track
  3. Attach your curtain to the Gliders
  4. Install Track End Caps
  5. Connect rod sections with the Internal Rod Connector
  6. Place the rod into the brackets

⚠️ Important: install the curtain and gliders before putting on the End Caps — otherwise you'll need to partially disassemble the rod later.

Why I Made This
I wanted the look of a real curtain rod without drilling into my walls. Since I already had a ceiling-mounted curtain track, I designed this modular system to work with standard gliders while giving the appearance of a traditional 35mm rod.
