Straddle Carrier Crane

This model is inspired by the straddle carriers used in ports and container terminals around the world. Designed to move shipping containers around busy yards, these machines are an impressive piece of industrial engineering, combining a tall gantry frame with a compact wheeled chassis.

I wanted to capture the distinctive look of a modern straddle carrier while keeping the model detailed and enjoyable to build. The design features the elevated operator's cab, structural cross-bracing, access ladders, spreader assembly, and multi-wheel layout that give these machines their unmistakable appearance.

Whether you're interested in container ports, heavy equipment, logistics, or industrial vehicles, this model makes a unique addition to a collection or display shelf. It also pairs well with container models, port scenes, rail yards, and other cargo-handling equipment.

The finished model has a clean industrial look and plenty of visual detail from every angle, making it a great display piece for anyone who appreciates large-scale machinery and engineering.

Enjoy the build, and I'd love to see your makes and any custom versions you create!

Printing

Printing is fairly straight-forward, though I'd highly suggest using my print profile, as I've included many manual supports and per-object settings for the best quality and to ensure supports are adequate.

Tires are intended to be TPU, with the windows intended to be transparent PETG. PLA will work fine for everything else, I've included an extra build plate for the few pieces that benefit from PETG supports (If AMS is an option for you).

Lastly; I've left tolerances fairly tight and implemented some x-y compensation where required, though some parts bay need slight sanding to fit together perfectly. I'd suggest using a combination of CA Glue and even solder welding where necessary (I relied on this for attaching the top beams/platform to the legs to ensure structural integrity)
