TIV 2  is a heavily armored vehicle built to drive directly into tornadoes to capture IMAX footage and collect scientific data. Designed by filmmaker Sean Casey, it can withstand extreme winds exceeding 300 mph (480 km/h).

 

• Armor: The body consists of thick steel plates and a 2-inch tubular frame, combined with bulletproof polycarbonate windows.
• Tower (Turret): The top features a 360-degree rotating turret that houses an IMAX camera and protects the operator behind armored glass.

• Anchors: For intercepts, hydraulic skirts drop to block high winds from getting underneath, while four hydraulic spikes anchor the vehicle deep into the ground.
