Description
Bring one of the most iconic Viking board games to your table with this printable Hnefatafl set!
This model can be printed in two different ways:
• As a storage box with an integrated hinged lid.
• As a standalone game board, without the storage box.
The game board is not provided as a separate file. If you only want the board, simply remove the box components from the build plate before slicing.
The lid is permanently attached through a printed hinge, so no additional hardware is required. Once printed, simply glue the game board onto the outside of the lid to complete the box.
The model is fully scalable, allowing you to print anything from a compact travel version to a larger display piece.
Original dimensions:
• Box version: 188 × 188 × 20 mm
• Board only: 155 × 155 × 1 mm
The storage box is designed to keep all the playing pieces safely inside when not in use.

As with many of my projects, the model shown in the photos has been painted to enhance the presentation. However, it also looks great straight off the printer with no painting required.

The game board and box are designed to be printed at a 0.20 mm layer height.
For the best detail, I recommend printing the playing pieces at 0.08 mm (Extra Fine).
The provided project is configured entirely at 0.20 mm, so remember to change the layer height to 0.08 mm before printing the pieces.
This will significantly improve the visibility of the carved details while keeping the board quick to print.
The attacking pieces are split across two build plates. This is only because placing all 24 attackers on a single plate would exceed MakerWorld's triangle limit for uploads. If you prefer, you can safely move all 24 attacking pieces onto a single build plate before printing.
