Poop Chute & Dumpster

So funny story.  I love printing things.  Therefore I have a lot of plastic waste from poop to supports etc…. A while ago my husband says “your going to need a dumpster for all that plastic”.  Then my neighbor noticed the several bags of plastic “poop” I have and said the exact thing.  And only when my nephew comes over and says the same thing once again I thought to myself, I need to make a little dumpster to catch all the poop my printer makes.  I pictured the Home Alone 2 movie where the house Kevin rigs up has a chute outside the window going into a dumpster.  So that's where the idea for project came from.  

There are tons of “poop” bins and baskets for the other printers but I wanted to make one for my new Bambu Lab A2L printer.  She's a beast.  Very detailed and prints well.  I love it.  It does shake the house though being a large sized bed slinger.  I have been printing on silent mode to calm it down in most cases.

 

This took me a week to create.  A little longer than usual but I needed to get the tolerances perfecta.  My main goal was to make it easy and reliable to print.  That was the challenge.  I tried several ways to get the chute to print as one piece but it never worked out.  So clip or bracket that connects to the printer is separate and has to be glued to the chute.  I did make a connection socket so the two fit together perfectly so all is needed is a drop of cyanoacrylate glue (Super Glue) or something similar on each edge of the connection opening and hold it in place for the appropriate time (depending on your glue).  I have printed 19 sets of the chute and bracket and glued them together successfully with no problem.  

 

Supports were absolutely necessary to accomplish my goal. I tried to keep the settings simple but tweaked the settings like the top and bottom Z distance, speed etc… to get dumpster and chute to come out clean.  Just be sure to keep my settings.  You can add to them if you please but it wont be necessary as you can tell by my photos.  

 

I have had several people that don't have a printer me to print them one just because they wanted the cute little bin.  I have even been changing the sizes per their requests.  The dumpster itself is scalable and you can make a smaller or larger one depending on your needs.  I am sure it will have many uses.  

 

This is the A2L model version.  I created this first due to the need for a way to control the filament purge waste or “Poo” .  Upon request I made a clip portion that fits the A1 and A1 Mini printers.  All the A1 series poo cute parts are now on the same page.  You can find them here:
