Plushie Eyes

Hello hello my friends! I have been working on something really fun - cute plushie eyes! I used these for the unicorn head, and liked them so much I wanted to see if I could make them into actual safety eyes for yarn/fabric plushies, and I finally got it to work.

 

I've given you two kinds of eyes; one is the more traditional safety eye that you're familiar with, with a nice big washer that won't fall apart on you, and the other is a sew-in. I used the sew-in on the raven in the pictures, since he had a printed head that I crocheted around and I couldn't use traditional safety eyes. You can either sew on directly, blanket stitch around the eye and then crochet on it, or crochet directly through the holes if you have a hook small enough! I printed these in PETG for strength - they work just fine in PLA but I was worried about the stress put on the screw part, especially if you size down, so I would recommend PETG for sure. I've printed the safety eyes down to 80% (that's the size on the tiny dragon), but you can go as low as you'd like without losing detail. The washer is printed in TPU, and it really does need to be in flexible material. I tested both PLA and PETG for these and neither worked. The good news is that it's on the inside of the head so you can just use whatever color you've got laying around.
