A simple, one-piece mount for the Topcon LS-1000 wireless laser receiver that attaches to a grade/leveling staff with tape and/or zip ties — no drilling into your staff, no permanent modification, fully reusable.
Design:
- Full-length base plate (180mm) gives a wide, stable surface for tape adhesion, with optional holes for zip-tie backup
- Open-top tray cradles the receiver’s back and sides, leaving the screen and buttons fully accessible
- Full-length snap lips along both side walls hold the device down securely without blocking the display
- Closed end wall with retention lip locks the receiver in at one end; open at the other for quick insertion/removal
- Receiver pops in and out easily — swap staffs or remove for storage without re-taping every time
Fit: Sized for the Topcon LS-1000 (68.0 × 132.6 × 25.2mm), measured directly with digital calipers.
Includes the OpenSCAD source file — fully parametric, so you can adjust it to fit other laser receivers (Topcon, Spectra, Leica, etc.) or different staff widths. Just measure your own device with calipers, update the dimension variables at the top of the file, and re-render:
- RX_W, RX_L, RX_D — receiver width, length, depth
- CLEARANCE — fit tolerance
- TRAY_LEN — how much of the receiver’s length the walls grip
- WALL_HT — side wall height
- SNAP_LIP_THK, FAR_END_LIP — retention lip dimensions
- TOTAL_LEN — overall base plate length
- TAPE_HOLE_DIA — set >0 to add zip-tie holes through the base
Printing notes:
- Supports not required, but recommended under the overhanging snap lips for cleaner detail
- Print flat as oriented
- PETG or ABS recommended for outdoor durability and lip flex; PLA works but the snap lips are more prone to cracking with repeated use
Use case: Built for hands-on jobsite use — reusable mount, removable receiver, adaptable to other laser models via the included SCAD file.
