This jig is designed to simplify and speed up the process of cutting dovetail tails for drawer construction. It ensures that all tail cuts are symmetrical and consistently positioned across multiple boards, making it ideal for batch production.
The jig is available in both 1:6 and 1:8 dovetail angles, allowing users to select the slope most appropriate for their project and material.
Operation
Scribe the dovetail cut depth on all workpieces to establish a clear stopping point for each cut.
Lay out the tail pattern on one side of a reference board. These layout lines are used to align the jig with the saw blade.
Align the first layout line with the blade and make the cut. By flipping the board, the jig produces matching left- and right-hand cuts, ensuring perfect symmetry across all boards.
Flip the board end-for-end and repeat the process on the opposite side.
Once the first set of cuts is completed, adjust the fence or stop position to the next layout line and repeat until all tails are cut.
This jig provides accurate, repeatable positioning, reducing setup time while maintaining consistent dovetail geometry across multiple drawer sides. While the process is straightforward in use, see demonstration video below
