FoundIt Halo — Customizable Lost & Found QR Tag

Give your lost item a way back home

FoundIt Halo is a customizable lost-and-found tag designed for backpacks, suitcases and bags. Its simple, universal shape makes it suitable for everyday use, while the QR code connects the finder with the owner through the free FoundIt service.

Unlike a traditional tag with a phone number or home address printed on it, FoundIt does not expose the owner’s personal details to everyone nearby. It provides a private way to recover lost belongings without publicly displaying the owner’s or finder’s contact information.

How FoundIt works

Each tag uses its own individual QR code generated on foundit.cc.

When someone finds your item, they can scan the QR code and open a contact form connected to your tag. The finder can:

• send a message to the owner,
• attach a photo of the found item,
• share the exact location where the item is located,
• optionally provide an email address to enable two-way communication.

If the finder confirms their email address, both sides can continue the conversation through FoundIt without revealing their email addresses to each other.

The finder does not need to create an account or install an app.

Create your own tag

FoundIt is completely free and allows each account to create up to 20 tags for personal 3D printing.

Before printing:

1. Create a free account at foundit.cc/register.
2. Generate a free tag code.
3. Enter the code in the MakerLab Customizer.
4. Check that the generated QR code opens the correct tag page.
5. Generate and print the model.

The visible tag number and the QR code must always use the same FoundIt code.

Customization options

The model can be adjusted directly in the customizer. You can change:

• the overall tag size,
• the position of the text,
• the attachment-hole style,
• the edge-rounding style,
• the printing configuration for the detailed face.

The simple shape was designed to remain practical and versatile without limiting the tag to one specific type of item.

Example file

The included example model uses the tag number:

PRM-N2E

This is an active public demonstration tag connected to FoundIt. You are welcome to scan it and send a test message to see how the service works.

For your own printed tag, replace PRM-N2E with a code generated in your FoundIt account.

Recommended print settings

• Material: PETG
• Nozzle: 0.4 mm
• Layer height: 0.2 mm

• Infill: 60%

   

The model was printed and tested on a Bambu Lab P2S. The printed QR code scanned correctly without any problems.

Good contrast between the QR code and the base is strongly recommended. Black and white usually provide the most reliable result.

Important note

FoundIt is not a GPS tracker and does not actively track the location of your item. It cannot prevent theft or guarantee that a lost item will be returned.

It provides a simple and private way for an honest finder to contact the owner after finding the tagged item.
