Customisable shelf stopper

📚 Shelf Stopper - Underpaid. Overqualified. Essential.

A snap-on rail that clips onto a shelf's front edge to stop items sliding or falling off. 🚫📦 No screws or glue — the C-shaped clip flexes over the edge and two snap lips hold it in place.

🛠️ Fully parametric — tune it to your shelf in the OpenSCAD Customizer or on MakerWorld.

 

⚠️ Not fool-proof. It holds by friction and the snap lips alone — no clamps, screws, or glue. A hard knock, heavy load, or thicker-than-expected shelf can pop it off probably.

How to customise

Hit Customize on the MakerWorld page and adjust the sliders. Two settings matter most:

Length — set length to suit your shelf. Wider than your bed? Print it in pieces and butt them together, turning off round_left / round_right on the ends that meet so they sit flush.

Shelf thickness — set shelf_thickness to match your shelf; the snap lips narrow the opening for a firm hold (default: 16.75 mm opening on an 18 mm shelf).

 

💡 Before printing the full length, set length to 10 mm for a quick test piece to dial in the fit.

Overall

Shelf Fit

Parameter	Default	Range	What it does
shelf_thickness	10 mm	4–30	Thickness of the shelf the clip grips. Set this to your shelf.
shelf_clearance	0.3 mm	0–1	Extra gap so it slides on easily. Bigger = looser fit.
grip_depth	15 mm	6–40	How far the arms reach onto the top & bottom of the shelf. Deeper = stronger hold, more material.

Barrier / Lip

Parameter	Default	Range	What it does
wall_height	10 mm	2–40	Height of the retaining wall that stops items. Taller = blocks bigger/rounder items.

Snap Lips (the grip)

Parameter	Default	Range	What it does
lip_grip	0.7 mm	0–2	How far each lip bites into the gap. Bigger = tighter grip (harder to remove).
lip_lead_in	0.3 mm	0–1	Lip height at the mouth — a ramp so it slides on before it grips.
lip_length	1.5 mm	0.5–6	How far the lip runs back from the tip.

Thickness

arm_thickness	1.5 mm	1.2–5	Thickness of the top & bottom clip arms. Thinner = flexes more easily to snap on.

Rounding (cosmetic)
