I really like the desgin of the MCM Vase but I wanted to be able to print it in vase mode, and fast… Thus started my journey in this design. I really like where it came out, with a few caveats below. Good enough for me though, and with only a 2 hour print time!

 

The angled top/spout makes a regular vase mode print impossible, so it's printed upside down… Make sure to use a bed with good adhesion. I used the Gold BambuLab Textured PEI Plate. This is also printed with an extremely wide line width (.8mm on a .4mm nozzle). It works great, and with the Polymaker PolyTerra filament I'm using it barely shows any layer lines. That being said, the layer lines are actually a nice design feature of this print because it is printed at such a strange angle. It actually enhances the look of the final product.

 

I've uploaded two versions. One is smooth and round, and the other has a facetted neck that matches the number of fins on the sides of the vase. In the photo of the two vases, the smooth is on the left, and the facetted version is on the right. I really like the look of both and couldn't pick between them, so I've uploaded both. Choose the one that is right for you. It is vase mode, so it is very quick to print, and honestly really cool to watch as it defies gravity while it prints. You've got to see it for yourself.

 

It is not water-tight. I tried a few different things to make it more-so but after 10+ different designs I gave up for now. In the end I think if I want it to hold water that I'll just seal the inside with a little bit of hot wax or something. If someone else wants to take up the task of making it water tight here are my recommendations. You can adjust the individual layer heights and make the very top (bottom) a finer layer height. It is barely visible. I also tried cutting some ridges into the bottom that helped thicken it up. This nearly worked but after 5 minutes or so the bottom started to sweat, which is when I decided it wasn't worth it to try further on a vase design. Printing at .08 layer height makes it more water-tight, but sometimes can have a weird effect on the surface finish…
