Description

I was hoping to find a tough box to store some parts and tools for my Bambu printers, and I couldn’t quite find anything that I liked. So I decided to design my own.

I wanted the box to be strong, snap shut, able to print in one piece, not require additional hardware, and not be over complicated. I didn’t want to be limited as to how many extruders, nozzles, or whatever part I wanted to put in the box. So, I left the inside open.

I created two hinges that print in place, one for the main box, and one for the snapping mechanism to lock the box shut. Through the help of some supporters, a lot of test prints with different tolerances in the hinges and snapping mechanism where ran. Here is the best combination we found. A Big thanks to you all who helped!

I printed this several times personally and created different logos to put on the lid of the box. I am also including a blank version of the box if you wanted to add your own text, or logo to it. I printed the box without support plenty of times without issue, but if your printer doesn’t bridge well you will want to add a small amount of support under the locking pin only.

I also am adding a blank version of the box where the locking mechanism can be printed out separately, just in case you find its too tight and breaks accidentally.

If printing the locking mechanism in place I recommend working the hinges in, moving them back and forth several times this will open up some of the clearances needed to allow the snap to lock in place without breaking. The lock can be rather tight in the beginning, but after a few uses should wear in just fine. If you find it too tight for your liking, you can always take a small file to the locking pin, and remove the bottom layer of filament that tends to be loose anyway.
