Rugged Drawer Unit - Compatible rugged boxes

Ive designed this draw unit to be compatible with my rugged box system

you can either attach this unit above or below the other rugged boxes.

there are 3 drawers one deep and two shallow all with an individual latch to stop them opening when you move it around.

To assemble the drawer units you will need:

6x M3 Heat press inserts

3x compression springs (0.5mm wire diameter, 5mm OD, 10mm free length) i used these off amazon (https://amzn.eu/d/cPYOD8R)

4x M3 x12 Socket head screws

4x M3 x10 Socket head screws

2x M3 x30 socket head screws

ASSEMBLE THE LATCHES BEFORE INSERTING THE DRAWERS

To assemble the latches press the M3 Heat inserts into the holes in the drawers, once these have cooled down drop the latches into each drawer followed by a spring.

for the two shallow drawers you will need the M3x12 screws and for the deep drawer you will need the M3x30 screws, ensure these are all tight.

before inserting the drawers into the main body i recommend moving the latch up and down to ensure smooth motion.

Now the latch mechanisms are complete push each drawer into the corresponding slot on the main body until the latch clicks into place.

once the drawers are in place they cannot be removed easily due to the retaining nubs on either side this ensures the drawers cant accidentally be pulled out.

Finally you will need to add the side clasps, these are screwed into the recesses on the top of the drawer unit, place them with the flat side up in the cutout ensuring the holes line up.

Then screw in the 4 M3x10 screws, these thread into the plastic of the main body so be careful not to over tighten them as this would strip out the plastic and cause them to come loose.
