Description

This customizable collapsible saber is the fifth (5th) collection of many different designs that I wanted to create.

I am just getting into the 3D design space and trying new things with my 3D printer, and these collapsible saber have been the result of my tinkering.

The sections screw together and meant to be interchangeable with all the parts in this collection. Here is a link to the whole collection: https://makerworld.com/en/@bill.m.davis/collections/713533

Inspirations of this model:

This version is inspired by the lightsaber used by Darth Maul!

The locking head was inspired by a design uploaded by randomg (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6022622)

It took me quite a while to get this idea to work how I wanted with my own design.

How this design works

You have to print two (2) of these sabers and then twist the end caps together to connect.

Assembling the locking head can be tricky the first time.

First install the teeth on the tabs in the turning cap.

With the tab installed, press the head into the cap and twist back and forth until the tabs on the teeth find their place in the head.

Then simply turn the cap on the head to open or close.

Button design

Originally the buttons were designed to snap in without glue, but in practice they are too small and I used glue to secure them.

Boost MeBoosts let me know if my effort is worth it. It takes a lot of time to come up with and test all these designs and improvements. Let me know which ones you really love.

Commercial License

Patreon has been setup for those that would like to have a commercial license to sell printed models of all my saber models.
