Description
This is the Marine Corps' F-35B Lightning II in STOVL mode. It is the only variant out of the three within the F-35 program that has the capability of Short Take-Off Vertical Landing. It was initially designed to be a light, agile multirole fighter comparable to the F-16, but as more capabilities were added, the aircraft gained a considerable amount of weight, earning it the name "Fat Amy" or the "Battle Penguin" due to its short wingspan compared to the length of its fuselage. Nonetheless, it is a highly capable and very lethal stealth penguin in the US military arsenal. This is a 1:46 scaled model.
Like all my models I've posted, every bit of this is drawn from scratch using Autodesk Fusion. The stand design I came up with was inspired by the Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) used on the F-35s, giving it a unique look that sets it apart from some of the stands you can find online.
