According to this paper, the classical kaleidocycle was reported by Bricard in 1927. This kaleidocycle consists of six basic units connected by six hinges to form a loop, and is characterized by the fact that it has six hinges but only one degree of freedom (i.e., it has only a fixed movement).
この論文によると古典的なカレイドサイクルは1927年にBricardによって報告されているそうです。このカレイドサイクルは6個の基本ユニットを6個のヒンジで連結して輪にしたもので、ヒンジが6個もあるのに自由度が一つしかない(つまり決まった動きしかしない)点が特徴です。


This paper reports a kaleidocycle that can maintain one degree of freedom even when the number of basic units is seven or more. The lower right object in figure 10 of the paper shows what the kaleidocycle looks like when the number of basic units is infinite. This is a "3π-twist Mobius band" or a Mobius band with one and a half turns. This is the origin of the name "Mobius kaleidocycle".
この論文では基本ユニットの数を7個以上にしても自由度を一つのまま維持できるカレイドサイクルが報告されています。論文の図10右下に、基本ユニットの数を無限大にした場合にカレイドサイクルがどのような形になるのかが示されています。これは「3π-twist」つまり一回転半ひねりのメビウスの輪です。これがメビウスカレイドサイクルの名前の由来になっています。

I have uploaded several 3D models of the Mobius Kaleidocycle to Printables. However, this is a new model designed to reduce the amount of material.
これまでメビウスカレイドサイクルの3DモデルをいくつかPrintablesにアップロードしてきました。しかしこれは材料を減らすべく設計した新しいモデルです。

Models with 7, 8 or 9 basic units were created. All are confirmed to rotate. I recommend MK7.
If the number of units is a multiple of 3, the vertices are aligned when turning, so the distance between the hinges must be increased.
基本ユニットの数が7, 8, 9個のモデルを作りました。全て回転することを確認しています。お勧めはMK7です。
ユニット数が3の倍数の場合は回す際に頂点が揃うので、ヒンジ間距離を大きくする必要があります。

The hinge holes are circular and the connector pins are octagonal. This is based on the following website.
