Description

This STEP model converts an Ender 3 (not Ender 3 Pro) into a Switchwire. I created this model because I own an Ender 3 and wanted to transform it into a Switchwire. Unfortunately, I encountered some challenges since the Switchwire conversion kit is specifically designed for the Ender 3 Pro and V2 models.

One of the main differences between these models is the Y-axis extrusion. The standard Ender 3 uses a 2020 extrusion, making it smaller than the Ender 3 Pro and V2 models that use a 4040 extrusion. This variation in extrusion sizes creates a significant challenge when attempting to adapt the Switchwire conversion to the regular Ender 3.

Despite these challenges, I went ahead and designed this STEP model to help other Ender 3 users who might be facing the same issue.
It’s important to note that this model has not been tested in real-life applications yet. However, based on the design specifications and theoretical fit, it should work as intended.

This model requires custom extrusions: a 2020 extrusion for the X-axis and a 2040 extrusion for the Y-axis. You can likely reuse the original 2020 extrusion for the X-axis, but it will need to be cut down slightly. The 2040 extrusion for the Y-axis needs to be longer than the original.

I hope this model will be useful to fellow Ender 3 enthusiasts looking to make similar modifications and upgrades. Your feedback and testing experiences would be highly appreciated to refine this model further and ensure its functionality.
