Description
This bracket holds an AirTag inside the dome light of your Subaru so you can keep track of your vehicle while leaving thieves unaware. Designed to fit dome light model VC12-068, which seems to be used in most Subaru vehicles since 2001 (mine is a 2019 WRX). See images to compare to your dome light fixture.
The model prints without supports but has two support features modeled in that need to be removed before use: Cut away the single-layer bridge support from the bolt hole with an Exacto knife or similar. Remove the thin angled piece that supports the free end of the hook by cutting the lower part with side cutters and then folding it to break at the layer line.
The .3mf file includes seam placement for PrusaSlicer and derivative slicers. If you are using another slicer, keep seams away from the inside of the hook and the inside of the AirTag retention tabs, as these areas fit very precisely. This model is designed to be printed with a 0.16mm layer height.
To install:
As with all prints that will sit in your car, PLA is not a good choice for this print. A material with better thermal resistance like PETG or ABS will be better. I would also recommend swapping your stock incandescent bulb for a low-draw LED bulb because those things get hot!
