Honda Odyssey Key Fob Remix (2011-2013)
Description: This is a custom remix of a key fob designed for the 2011-2013 Honda Odyssey. The redesign features a recessed face to facilitate easier button actuation and the removal of some lettering for enhanced button readability. Additionally, a shadow seam has been incorporated to ensure a better fit and a more finished appearance.
Features:
- Enhanced Button Access: Recessed face for easier button pressing.
- Improved Readability: Removal of unnecessary lettering while maintaining clear button labels.
- Better Fit and Finish: Shadow seam added to improve part mating and aesthetics.
- Secure Assembly: Requires 4 M3 bolts and nuts for assembly.
Assembly Notes:
- The two sides may require some pressure to fit together properly, but they have been tested to ensure a secure fit.
- Loctite can be used to ensure the bolts don't back out or loosen.
- For best results, use a material more resilient than PLA. Over time, PLA may loosen, as experienced in my initial testing over six months. A 3D pen can be used to tighten the fit if necessary.
Usage: My wife has been using her key fob with minimal issues, and the modifications have held up well under regular use.
Printing Recommendations:
- Material: Consider using a durable material like ABS, ASA, or PETG (untested), instead of PLA.
- Bolts and Nuts: 4 M3 bolts and nuts are required for assembly.
- Orientation Options:
- Face Down: Results in a slightly rougher surface finish, especially around curved edges, but requires little to no support material and is much easier to clean up.
- Inside Down: Offers a superior surface finish but requires considerable cleanup, including removing support and support interface from very small spaces.
- Infill Density: Infill density is not critical due to minimal infill in the model. However, multiple walls are recommended for strength; I used 4 walls.
Post-Processing:
- Light sanding of edges may be necessary, especially if printing face down. Use adhesives if desired for additional security.
