This is an upgrade for the lid of the Car Trashcan Bin Container Big - By Art Design. 3D

 

This is an awesome design and I enjoy it so much! But the lid kept flipping upside down on me. So with the designers permission I made this derivative on his design.

A Self Closing Lid!

It always closes right side up by itself so you don't have to worry about it not closing or flipping upside down anymore!

No external parts are needed for this print!

 

Instructions

I've designed the lid and prepared the print profile in a way where the model is split into parts with different infill densities.

If you use the provided print profile you should be good. If not, keep on reading.

 

 

In the image below the red part should be printed with 80% infill density.

The overhang over the cavities below the red part should be able to be printed as is. So print without support!


Note: Due to the difference in infill density the lid could show some slight form of warping at the intersection between the red and the grey part. This is caused by the filament cooling down at different rates due to the difference in infill density. This, however, doesn't hinder the function or look of the lid when it is closed.

 

I moved the hinge of the lid as high as possible when it is placed in the cup. That way the higher density part has the greatest distance to the hinge and thus the lid always goes right side up. The notches are there to indicate that they need to be placed downwards into the cup.
