***UPDATE 08th May 2025 *** Additional profile uploaded for AMS 2 Pro so now all current AMS units are compatible.
This is a simple & non-intrusive approach to improving the lighting of the BambuLab P1P / P1S / X1 / X1C Enclosures when you have an AMS unit on top. No cutting, drilling, re-wiring needed……
Utilises a budget friendly LED Light Ring which are readily available. Amazon links here for UK / EU / USA. Basically you are looking for the type with a 260mm (10") outer diameter and a flat diffuser face that will sit flush on the printer (not the curved variety that are also commonplace).
The beauty of these rings are that they:
For me - this is hands down the best and simplest solution, but called for an equally simple mounting method that didn't require lots of filament and print time, nor required disassembly of the light ring itself (I have seen other solutions which remove the back housing…and so the vent slots along with it!).
I also particularly wanted to find a way to print without complicated assembly or having to glue pieces together….
This model does this by way of two ‘Dog Bones’ which will fit within the build plate volume. These can be printed from PLA or PETG as will not be in direct contact with the heated enclosure/glass.
These are then coupled with four ‘Foot’ inserts, which take the load of the AMS and spread back into the glass top…..these are intended to be printed in TPU to act as dampening and to stop the AMS from moving around.
The two dog-bone assemblies sit on the printer (Arrows facing forward) and will perfectly cup/cradle the outer diameter of the Light Ring, keeping it centred and in place.
Now you can place the AMS unit on top by aligning the feet into the TPU foot grooves.
It will just drop into place and quite simply… everything just stays put!
