Hello makers,

finally I got the time to complete the v2 of my Led Strip holder, you can find the v1 here but I would recommend to use the v2 from now on.

For the v2, the design has been significantly improved.

The profile is now smoother, providing a better housing for the LED strip. A new “90-degree corner” profile has been added, and most importantly, all the guides are now easily connectable to each other thanks to small connectors.

The guide allows you to secure the strip without the need for adhesives; simply slide it into the guide to keep it stable and in place. Connectors must be used with the arrow sign facing up.

To attach the guide to the wall or any surface, you can choose between using adhesives or small screws to fit into the designated slots in the guide.

Additionally, as per v1 the guide is designed with openings to reduce filament usage and provide better ventilation for the LED strip, I also included the usual two end plugs: one with a hole to pass cables to an external controller and one to completely close the opposite end.

Parametric

Finally, I can share the parametric version of this strip, allowing you to create your preferred size. A few notes:

  • Always keep about 3.8 mm more than the LED width for the guide width. For example, if your LED width is 14 mm, the guide width should be at least 17.8 mm.
  • Once ready, download the .3mf file, select all objects, right-click, and choose Split Objects.
  • Then, re-position them using the Auto-Orient button.
  • For the new 90‑degree upward-facing part, follow this procedure — I won’t include it in the pre-existing profiles.

These are the parameter used to generate the existing print profiles:

Printing

There are no specific requirements for printing the guide. If your LED strip tends to overheat, I strongly recommend using a high-strength filament like ABS, ASA, or PETG. However, PLA will work well in most cases. No support is required.

Regarding the diffusers, I recommend printing them in white (avoid transparent materials as the LEDs will be visible otherwise).

Since they are printed with the bottom side being visible, it might be a good idea to use a textured print bed to achieve a better finish (check pictures). However, the most important aspect is to ensure that the side in contact with the print bed is perfect, without any roughness or adhesive residues.

Remember to get the same LED size for each component; a diffuser for a 9mm strip doesn’t fit in the 12mm base.

If you need different sizes, feel free to ask!

I hope this updated version meets your needs and enhances your projects.

Happy printing!
