Description
0.16mm layer height recommended.
Highly optimized hotend fan filter with large area to have low airspeed through the filter for more efficient filtration which also gives it low restriction for better airflow. Insert is as short as possible to increase the distance to the fan and as thin as possible to increase outlet area for better airflow while not being fragile and not release / relax too much over time due to PLA creeping so it doesn't fit too loose and vibrate later on. That's also why it fits quite snug initially to have headroom for the relaxing of the PLA. It's also as thin and aerodynamic as I could make it. Filter area made as fine meshed as possible for better filtration performance and as thin as possible for minimal weight to the cost of a few strings. I recommend a lighter with electronic switch and just turn it on and immediately off inside of the filter. That'll burn away most of it but not soften the filter from the heat.
Installation
Insert one side first, representing 8 o'clock, at an angle. Continue by pressing at 2 o'clock. Light pressure towards 8 o'clock can help, near the filter opening / insert.
Short version doesn't protrude outside X-axis, Long version does. When blowing hard into the outlet of the short version, the resistance is pretty much imperceptible, though airspeed will be increased through filter holes.
You'll need to remove filter and clean fan and hotend fins from time to time to remove the mostly shorter fibers and dust that inevitably will get through. Q-tip + alcohol works great for that.
Hope you like it!
