Description
Details:
This is my nether portal night light. It's a small, fast, simple nether portal with a chamber for a light source of your choosing. It's a small and cute light which uses minimal filament and prints quickly. Its small size means it fits in to your existing decor very easily and can create a nice effect even with a dim light source like an LED candle. This is the perfect print to add to your RGB battlestation, bookshelves, office or kid's room.
Features:
- Easy print. No AMS required, no supports, extremely easy assembly, it just slots together.
- Hole in the light chamber to allow cables running out to battery packs/ USB power
- Replaceable light diffuser: Print multiple colours and swap as required!
- Mounting system: There is a protruding panel with a hole on the light chamber which can be pointed upwards to use for wall mounting, or pointed downwards to support the weight of the lights on a shelf/ desk.
Print info:
Prints without supports. I printed it at 0.2mm layers, 3 walls and a brim to reduce curling on the obsidian frame and the light chamber. Can be printed with one object per plate or one colour per plate without AMS, but only incurs 6 colour changes if you do choose to print all at once with AMS. I have provided print profiles for both options.
Assembly info:
Place the light diffuser into the back of the obidian frame, then slot the light chamber in behind it. Light chamber can point upwards for wall mounting, or downwards to act as a leg.
For the light, I used a short LED strip which can surround the chamber three times, however you can use whatever small light source you have kicking around. So far I've tested it with a small dome torch, LED flicker candle and a folding book light.
