Description
For assembly, the primary profile uses 1/8" diameter cylindrical magnets. The thickness can be 1/16" or greater. I have also uploaded one resized for 3mm magnets as well as some profiles for smaller layer heights for the curved squares.
I printed the 1/8" and glued in 3mm magnets, and glue may be required either way. My 3mm magnets did not stick automatically in the 3mm chess pieces, so at least the chess pieces require glue.
The main instruction necessary for building is that the inner pieces have small dots that point to the pentagon piece. On my first build, I personally experienced difficulty fitting the final inner pieces in each of the two inner layers, having to press very hard to snap it in, but I think this can be avoided if you make sure that all pieces are snug together. (I recommend placing the pieces: 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4, I placed them as 1-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-3-3-3-3… and then had to press very had to squish in some of the final 4 pieces). My other recommendation is when it comes to alignment of the two halves. When I glued the two pieces together, I lined up the inner pieces, but that caused the boards not not be aligned together, so it wobbles. I recommend making sure to line up the sides so that it does not wobble. The other aspect is a little more technical. The right corner of each side should be white (h1 and a8), so make sure to align the two boards how you want. It is easy to accidentally orient the boards perpendicularly, but that might be what you want!
