Description

A friend of mine found this model somewhere and sent it to me, obviously I immediately felt in love with it, but I didn't like it having no eyes. I was asking the author the authorization for a remix but I soon discovered it already was an unreferenced remix from another platform. So I contacted the one I thought was the author but he told me his was a remix too. It al started as a coin bank, he gave me the link of his version which had sealed the hole and reduced the size. I'm reporting his as the base for this remix.

When cloning it to print a bunch on the same plate, I discovered the huge and detailed STL (8MB, 168k faces) was slowing down my computer which is pretty powerful, so I reworked it using MeshLab to create a smaller version (410KB with less than 10k faces).

There are two files (print profiles), one for multicolor and one for single color print.

There are four plates on each file, you can choose which version to print.

Plate 1normal
Plate 2fuzzy skin
Plate 3keychain hook
Plate 4keychain hole

I placed seam position to the back minimizing it's display.

This model uses adaptive layers to reduce the lines visible in the “sphere” composing the body, this takes more time, but trust me the results are worth it. For a reference, here are two tables that resume printing times:

Eyes are two separate spherical objects, in this way it's easier to change color if you need.

  1. go to the Objects section in the left sidebar by clicking the switch;
  2. locate the plate with the model you want to print;
  3. search for the Right-Eye and Left-Eye object and click on the rectangle indicating the filament index to use.

The fuzzy skin version in my opinion is even more beautiful because it completely hides the seam line and the layer lines, eyes are separated object, in this way fuzzy skin effect is applied only to the body and not to the eyes.

To print multiple copies of the model on the same plate, first locate the item on the plate.

Click on it with the primary mouse button.

A surrounding box will appear indicating you selected the object.

Press CTRL + K on your keyboard, or click with the secondary mouse button on the selected object, a menu will pop up.

Select the Clone item in the menu.

A dialog will appear, enter the number of copies you want to add to the plate (enter 8 for printing 9 copies, 24 for printing 25 and 44 for printing 45 of them), then press OK.

The copies will be places surrounding the original model.

Being the bases of those pigs very small, I added a small amount of brim on the first layer. If you have good adhesion on your plate, you could consider saving some time and filament by removing it. Personally I think this is good as is.

I also slowed down first layer a bit to enhance bed adhesion.
