Sometimes, I find myself doing things, like buying a large filament dryer, only to realize it takes up more space than I have. After some rearranging, I noticed the unused space below the dryer could be perfect for storing my boxes and keeping essential items within reach in my small printer area.
So, I decided to build a stand for the dryer. I considered adding drawers, but since I have plenty of boxes and I'm not sure what I'll need in this spot long-term, I started with a simple stand. To allow for future upgrades, I added evenly spaced mounting holes (2.5 cm apart) along the sides. This way, I can easily design and attach add-ons later if I need them. I also included a small backplate to ensure stability and make it easier to install the dryer on top.
I chose a height of 15 cm, which works perfectly with my boxes that are 7 cm and 14 cm tall.
Assembly is straightforward. You can check the stability by printing just the legs first to save material — they're snug and stable on their own. Simply slide the existing feet into the slots on the legs, and you're good to go. The screw holes are designed to fit the Bambu Lab BT3x10 SHCS Self-Tapping Screws (AA200).
I added space at the bottom of the stand for rubber feet with a 2.5 cm diameter. Personally, I prefer using 1mm rubber foam plates to cover the whole area, but you can customize this by extruding a circle in the slicer.
I've prepared four sizes that I found useful:
I've created a simple extension that lets you stack the stands to add more height while keeping things modular. They're stable on their own and don't need extra reinforcement. Just glue the little feet onto the extensions and fit the inserts into the existing stands. Keep in mind that the connection is intentionally loose so you can easily adjust or modify it. If you want everything to be completely rigid, you can glue all the parts together.
Shown in the pictures: 24,5cm + Extension + 7,5cm
If you're placing the AMS below, a 24.5cm profile will fit perfectly, but you'll need to slide the AMS out to change rolls. If you want to open the AMS lid without moving it, go for a setup like 24.5cm + Extension + 10cm. For a lower profile, the 7.5cm option works, but you'll need to replace the AMS handle with a shorter one, and the lid won't open fully.
If you are looking for the boxes i´ve used below you can find them here.
