🛠️ Ultimate Parametric 2020 V-Slot Extrusion (Bambu-Optimized!)

Forget about buying expensive aluminum extrusions for your lightweight frames, custom enclosures, or quick prototypes. And more importantly: forget about trying to scale static 3D models and messing up the T-slot dimensions!

This is a complete overhaul of my previous 2020 profile model. It is now 100% fully customizable using a simple script. You get the exact length you need, perfect T-slot tolerances, and a center hole that actually fits an M5 screw right off the build plate.

✨ What makes this version awesome?

  • Bambu-Ready: Automatically limits the max height to 256mm so it perfectly fits your X1, P1, or A1 series without slicer errors.
  • Adjustable Tolerances: T-nuts too tight? Just slide the tolerance bar. No more scaling the entire model by 1% and ruining the outer dimensions.
  • M5 Ready: The center hole is set to 4.2mm by default the exact size needed to self-tap an M5 screw perfectly.
  • Solid or Hollow Corners: Choose between massive corners for maximum 3D-printed rigidity, or hollow corners to mimic real aluminum extrusions.
Boost MeDid this little parametric lifesaver save you a 40-minute drive to the hardware store to buy a single piece of aluminum?

If so, consider smashing that Boost button! It costs you absolutely nothing, but it feeds my 3D printer with fresh filament and gives me the sweet, sweet dopamine required to keep building cool, free tools for this amazing community. Happy printing!

How to Generate Your Custom Size (The Beginner's Guide)

The best part? You don't need to install anything extra. Bambu's built-in Parametric Customize tool handles everything right inside Bambu Studio or even directly on MakerWorld.

Option A: Customize directly on MakerWorld (easiest!):

  1. On this model's page, click the "Customize" button near the download options.
  2. A simple panel with sliders and fields will appear right in your browser.
  3. Adjust your settings (see below), then hit "Download" to grab your personalized STL.
  4. Drop it straight into Bambu Studio and slice away!

Option B: Customize inside Bambu Studio:

  1. Download the .3mf file from this page.
  2. Open it in Bambu Studio, a Customize panel will automatically appear on the right.
  3. Tweak your settings, click "Confirm", and your model updates instantly.

What each setting does:

  • Length: How long your extrusion piece will be, from 10mm up to 256mm (the max your Bambu printer can handle in one go).
  • Center Hole: Leave this at 4.2 for a perfect self-tapping M5 fit. Only change it if you're using different hardware.
  • Tolerance: If your T-nuts slide in too tight after printing, bump this up by 0.1 or 0.2. If they're too loose, bring it down slightly.
  • Solid Corners: Checked = stronger and better for 3D printing. Unchecked = hollow corners like real aluminum extrusions.

💡 Quick tip: Not sure what length you need? Measure twice, print once. There's no shame in printing a 20mm test piece first to check that your T-nuts and M5 screws fit before committing to the full length!
