These remixed support pillars for GraviTrax marble runs fit together really well, as you can see in the photo where they are snugly stacked on top of each other to make a ¾ meter tall mega-tower! These models have 5 heights from 50mm to 250mm tall in 50mm increments. I print them with brim and tree supports to make sure the ovals turn out good.

Fixed 4 things which made the original pillars unusable:

  1. The original pillars have a gap between the hex mounting bottom piece and the body. In some instances this can cause the slicer to print the base and body as separate stacked pieces which come apart after printing.
  2. Widened the hex mounting ring from 29.3mm to 29.8mm so it will grip the base.
  3. Reduced the hex recess on top from 30.3mm to 29.65mm so anything stacked on top will actually grip the support pillar.
  4. Ran one of the models through an online .stl fixer because there were a couple flat edges that were non-manifold.

I also made a 250mm version (253mm total with hex mounting ring) because the Bambu Lab A1 can print 10" high.

 

PRINT SETTINGS & POST PROCESSING:

-0.2mm layer height

-Inner and outer brim

-Tree supports required for best finish on the top of ovals, and also to prevent upward curling of the cantilever filament layers immediately below the bridging layer at the top of the oval, which could come in contact with the print head and knock the piece off the plate (happened ot me once).  Remove tree supports by breaking it up with small pliers and removing through top, breaking into rings as you go.

-Recommend printing on smooth PEI sheet with glue
