9 Cylinder Radial Engine

General
The radial engine is a reciprocating type internal combustion engine configuration in which the cylinders "radiate" outward from a central crankcase like the spokes of a wheel. It resembles a stylized star when viewed from the front, and is called a "star engine" in some other languages.
The radial configuration was commonly used for aircraft engines before gas turbine engines became predominant.


Printing
The cylinder head is very detailed and could cause problems on some printers.
In that case please use the “simplified” version of the cylinder head.
I printed with PLA+, layer height 0.16 mm.
Dimensions 192 x 138 x 35 mm.

Assembly
The STL-file “Do not print-3D Crankshaft Exploded.stl” will help you with the assembly:
- Assemble the master-and-articulating-rod-assembly, using the master rod and slave rods.
- Place the assembled master-and-articulating-rod-assembly between the crank cheeks.
- Press fit (and glue) the crankshaft cheeks.
- Screw (and glue) the Crankshaft Axle to the Crankshaft Cheek.
- Place the completed crankshaft in the crankcase.
- Press fit (and glue) the Crankcase Lid to the Crankcase.
- Click or slide the pistons in the cylinders, the arrow pointing downwards. Align the opening in the pistons with the opening in the piston rods.
- Press the piston pin in each piston, pointing the arrows on the piston pin downwards.
- Assemble (and glue) the Cylinder Heads and Head Gaskets to the cylinders, using the dowels.
- Screw (and glue) the propeller hub to the propeller.
- Place (and glue) the propeller and the knob to the front and back of the Crankshaft.


Operation
Use the propeller or the knob to move the crankshaft and pistons.
The "Power Tool Adapter.stl" is added to motorize the model.
