Door Knob Safety Covers

 

Anyone with children knows how challenging it is to keep toddlers out of rooms once they learn how to turn door knobs and open doors. These 3D printable door knob safety covers are designed to help alleviate some of that stress by keeping the child from being able to turn the door knob. These easy to install covers provide security while still allowing adults to turn the knob using the integrated door knob “grip” slots.

 

The door knob covers are designed to fit circular door knobs as seen in the pictures. There are currently 2 different sizes available. The first one fits door knobs that are 32mm deep (from the front to the back of the knob), and another one that fits knobs 25mm deep.

 

Installation

 

To install the door knob cover, simply put the cover over the knob at an angle, and push it over the rest of the door knob until it clicks into place. Here is a brief demonstration:

Once the cover has been installed on the door knob, a rubber band can be placed around the back of the cover to hold it on the knob securely:

 

 

Printing

 

I recommend printing the door knob cover in PETG. Since PETG is a bit more flexible than something like PLA, it allows for installation over the door knob without snapping.
