Description
Jeppson's Malört fans and Chicagoans, this lightbox is for you! Wall mount or include the optional base for a desk or wall mount.
The optional base is also ready for LED lighting and has the Malört text in it.
This lightbox is pretty tight so you need to keep the LED load at 4-5 watts. See the photos but it's about 70 LEDs. No incandescent lighting allowed. Everybody probably has their favorite lightbox hardware but I used RF Mini Wireless Remote Controller for Single Color 3528 5050 LED Strip Lights, Wireless Remote Control with Connector, RF LED Strip Light Dimmer, Amazon.com ASIN B0C58VYTFD, and some leftover LEDs from Wobane LED Cabinet Light CS6 lights w/remote control (6*20") $17.84 each, Amazon.com (just what I used - whatever works for you is fine).
As usual - built-in reflectors, diffusers, and strain reliefs. There are plugs to make it light tight. The thick plugs are used if wall mounting without the base and goes in the holes in the logo feet. If mounting the optional base, the holes align between the base and the logo and you can pass your wires through the included hollow alignment pins. Wire exit is through the logo back hole or the base back hole. A drop of superglue will secure the plugs. The strain reliefs take a small zip tie to secure your wiring.
When assembling the base to the logo design there is a small overlapping edge to help align the parts front to back and give a slight 3D effect to differentiate the base. The hollow pins attach the logo to the base and align the parts but some dabs of silicone seal between them during assembly will add a little more bond.
If you are building the logo with base, glue/pin the logo back to the base back, add LEDs, wire up the control electronics if appropriate or just wire all the LEDs, and test. Secure the lenses with dabs of clear or black silicone seal. Press the lenses all the way around and check the seam to make sure they are fully seated all around and squish out the excess being careful to just let the squishes cure. After curing, the squishes of silicone seal just pull away leaving a clean seam.
Enjoy with a nice shot of Malört!
