Description

Cat Collar for holding the Samsung Galxy SmartTag2.

The Cat Collar features a safety latch which opens at about 4kg of pull in case of the cat get stuck somewhere.

Measuring:

Measure the circumference of your cats neck to get the right size for the neckband.
The circumference size is given in mm.
Make sure that at least one finger can be placed between the necklace and your cats neck so it won't bee too tight.

Printing:

With the right size in mind, you can select the case which fits your cat and print it in TPU.I would reccommend a harder TPU like 95A, so the tag won't fall out of its case.

The safety latch has to be printed in PETG or a material with similar flexibility properties. PLA will break!.

The nametag (plug) can be printed in any material. Customize it in the slicer by adding a custom text. (Text should not be bigger than 0.6mm in height)

!SAFETY!

On the design the safety latch should release at 4kg of force but depending on your material, the release force can be bigger than 4kg.
The release force should be smaller to equal your cats body weight, otherwise it could be dangerous if it gets stucked somewhere.

To test it, keep hanging known weights on the closed latch until it releases. If it is too strong, you can heat up the pins with a lighter and bow it slightly inwards to make the release force smaller. Bend the pins outwards to make it stronger.

Assembly

widen the holes with a 1,75 - 2mm drill. The holes are designed smaller on purpose, otherwise the material gets too weak in this area of the latch.

assemble the latch to the collar by using a short section of the same filament you printed the latch. Make sure the orientation of the male and female part are right before moving on.

cut the filament about 1mm wider than the latch on each side

use a lighter to soften the filament.

press the soft filament against the latch to secure it permanently
