Chapstick Holder (Multiple Sizes and Multi-Color)

Introduction

This model is an organizer/wall holder for chapstick. It comes in multiple sizes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 12, 36) and all sizes have two-color options available (only a single filament change so AMS is optional).

 

These designs have been optimized to support the two major tube diameters: ~15.5mm (Chapstick brand) and ~16.1mm (Burt's Bees brand). Other diameters should fit as long as they are not significantly outside this range.

Selecting a File

Select the 3mf file that matches the the number of slots you want.

 

Each file has 4 plates - two plates for a long support and 2 plates for a short support. The term “support” refers to the bottom ledge that the tube rests on. The two types of support are shown below (the “short” version is on the left in yellow, the “long” version is on the right in white) :

 

Each model type has one plate for multi-color and one plate for single color. Pick the plate that matches what style and coloring you want and print!

Print Settings

The smaller holders (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) have all been tested with the 0.2mm strength profile in BambuStudio. However, the 0.2mm standard profile should work fine for the smaller holders.

 

I printed entirely in PLA, but PETG will likely be a better option (I noticed the ends of the snap-fits were slightly brittle with PLA but no breaking yet).

 

If you plan to only use 15.5mm tubes (Chapstick brand or equivalent) then you can likely select any print settings you want. If you want to support larger 16.1mm tubes (Burt's Bees brand or equivalent) then you need to increase the strength of the print to counteract the bowing of the material. This is usually only for the larger boards (size 12 or 36 from my experience). An example of the bowing is shown below:

The settings in the size 36 file eliminated most of the bowing in my experience. If you are only using the smaller tube diameters, you can cut down the profile settings significantly to decrease print time and filament usage.

 

No support material required.

Updated Designs

If you would like a different size then please let me know and I will add it. Additionally, if there is a need for a larger snap-fit to only support the larger tubes let me know and I will add it.
