NASA Rocket Passthrough - No AMS Required!

The current passthrough fidget toy trend is super fun. And who doesn't love rockets? The insert looks like the flame of a rocket in flight as the it leaves the ground. This is an update to my original Rocket Passthrough model which you can find here:

I added the classic NASA worm logo to the side, and the best part is… no AMS needed here! 

 

NEW! I've added a NASA logo with narrower letters. This version will likely need to be glued, but should have enough clearance for anyone who is having issues getting the default letters to fit.

Here are a few notes about the print:

• This model prints on three plates. The print by object option won't work because the rocket and flame models are about 4 inches tall.
• Rocket (check out the the Easy-to-Remove Supports print profile for the latest optimized supports!)
  • The rocket requires both a brim and supports. This is already included in the print profile. The fins of the rocket have a small plate contact region which requires the brim for bed adhesion. Custom supports are included for the base of the rocket, and to support the fins as they print. Also, there is a narrow band of custom supports within each of the letters to provide a better platform for the upper lip than standard supports (painted tree supports are needed to position these letter supports).
  • The rocket is designed to be printed with a 0.2mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle.
  • Note: there are some small holes in the sliced print profile on the back plane of the letters on the rocket. These get covered by the letters from the NASA logo and don't impact the passthrough element.
• Flame Insert (see AMS version if interested on the Easy-to-Remove Supports print profile!)
  • The flame insert also requires a brim to ensure bed adhesion being a tall narrow model.
  • The flame insert is designed to be printed with a 0.2mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle.
  • This model is identical to the flame insert from my original rocket passthrough model. They are interchangeable, in case you want to switch them out.
• NASA Logo
  • The NASA logo needs to be printed with a shorter layer height to better form the contours on the top of the letters. I've set up the attached profile to have adaptive layer height so it is a faster print.
  • The logo doesn't actually need any glue (even though it won't hurt anything) to insert into the rocket, I pressed it into the slots on the rocket with the back end of a screw driver.
