Description

Three designs inspired by phucawf's design. As I was unable to make his design work on my XL650, as it does not have a Thrust Bearing, I designed these versions.

The main issue I had with phucawf's design was that the case ejector would rotate if there was enough pressure from a case (see images here). Also, the location of the set screw hole was too high when not using a thrust bearing, which meant that the set screw made contact right on the edge of the Shell Plate Bolt Head, which in turn allowed the set screw to slip off the bolt head.

I have made three versions of the ejector. All three versions have a 18.85 mm Bolt Head Hole (parametric) that is designed to be a press fit onto the Shell Plate Bolt Head:

  1. A plain version for use without the Ejector Wire. The set screw hole is centered on the Ejector.
  2. A version for use with the Ejector Wire in place, with a small tab sliding over the Ejector Wire to further prevent the Ejector from rotating under force. The set screw hole has the same location as in the first version.
  3. A version for use with a Thrust Bearing. The set screw location is parametric to the height of the Thrust Bearing.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

Drew my own designs after printing phucawf's design, which did not work for me. The major differences are:

  • Bolt Head Hole (parametric) is designed for a press pit over the Shell Plate Bolt Head
  • Version designed to slip onto the Shell Plate Bolt Head without Ejector Wire or Thrust Bearing
  • Version designed to slip on top of the Ejector Wire, thus using the Ejector Wire as a guide/stop to further prevent the Ejector from rotating
  • Changed the location (parametric) of the set screw hole as the original design allowed the screw to slip off the edge of the Shell Plate Bolt Head
  • Different tab geometry
