Description
I designed this to be a very simple j-bod also known as just a bunch of drives. This is a very simple and straightforward 3D print, in which there are two sets of files, the first is obviously the j-bod itself and the other is the drive caddies. This was designed to be as low budget as possible and to fit my 10-inch rack design. The reason I designed this the size that it is that I can upgrade the storage of my NAS for as little cost as possible. A one terabyte SSD 2.5 inch costs around 35 dollars on Amazon, a USB SATA adapter costs around $5 making expansion of the NAS $40. This price will obviously drop in future when SSD technology increases and prices become less. The initial setup costs is a bit more as it requires a USB powered hub, this could also be purchased on Amazon for 25 dollars. This rack design holds 12 drives, although I have not designed a way of Supporting the weight, I recommend printing another bracket yourself on the rear to take the weight off the front end holding the drives. I also recommend storing this on the lower part of your rack due to the weight of the drives. The way this is designed it can be printed in less than nine hours, and can be forever expanded upon with the original rock design. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas please feel free to contact me or leave a comment, and I'll get through and see what we can do to make this project better.
